How can outsourcing your business writing and editing tasks save you money?

Benefits of outsourcingCustom writing and editing services can be mistaken as being solely for the academic market, but nothing could be further from true. Businesses in virtually every industry has some type of writing or editorial need and can benefit from outsourcing.

From a creative perspective, businesses often need advertising and web copy but retaining an ad firm or employing in-house staff can be costly. Outsourcing to a professional custom writing and editing services company enables the business to pay only for the work needed versus an hourly or salaried commitment that must be met, even when the employee is not actively working on a given campaign.

Outsourcing is also beneficial for company or department newsletters. The business pays only for the work done on a given newsletter and enjoys the benefits of a second set of eyes and outside ideas that entice readers. Further, businesses can save thousands of dollars each year when having an outside source proofread and edit all types of materials from promotions/ad campaigns and internal memos to newsletters and corporate policy documents.

One important factor to consider when choosing a custom writing and editing service is confidentiality. Some business materials will contain information that is private to the business itself. It is vital the service you use employs and enforces a strong policy on confidentiality.

Midterms, holiday breaks, and taking care of yourself

Stressed FroggyNovember and December bring more than cooler weather and the anticipation of fluffy snow. The fall and early winter months are among the most stressful for students as they prepare for midterms and finals while fighting the excitement of Thanksgiving and Christmas break. While studying and maintaining high grades is important, it is equally important that students put as much attention and care toward their well-being.

A healthy lifestyle is a good start.  This means eating right, getting enough sleep, and doing things that invigorate (i.e. take brisk walk, take a tub-soak break, socialize –not to be confused with partying!).

The Anxiety and Depression Association of American recommends:

  • Take a time-out
  • Eat well-balanced meals
  • Limit alcohol and caffeine
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Exercise daily
  • Take deep breaths
  • Count to 10 slowly
  • Do your best
  • Accept that you cannot control everything
  • Welcome humor
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Get involved
  • Learn what triggers your anxiety
  • Talk to someone
  • Get help online

The full article includes an expanded discussion of each of the above points with recommendations on what you can do to reduce stress in your daily life. Whatever you are facing, never feel ashamed to ask for help… to admit you are human. After all, aren’t we all!
